Agricultural Commission Informational Meeting Planned
Would you like farming and farmlands to remain a vital part of West Bridgewater? If so, West Bridgewater may benefit from forming an agricultural commission.
A informational meeting will be held on Monday February 22, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the West Bridgewater Public Library, 80 Howard Street to introduce West Bridgewater residents, most particularly farmers and those interested in farming and the future of farming, to the concept and benefits of an agricultural commission and to discuss if West Bridgewater should pursue organizing an agricultural commission. A town agricultural commission is an appointed town committee whose members represent the farming community, encourage the pursuit of agriculture, promote agricultural economic development and protect farmlands and farm businesses.
Members of Dartmouth’s and Carver’s agricultural commissions will share their experiences with organizing and serving on commissions and will share their views about the value of agricultural commissions to their community.
Resident participation is very important and may lay the groundwork for moving the idea of organizing a West Bridgewater agricultural commission to the next Town Meeting.
